One of the first books I read on my entrepreneurial journey was Oversubscribed by Daniel Priestly. I remember being slightly amused by the idea, even while taking in all the great advice. When you’re starting out, desperate for clients, and unknown by your target market (and THAT was a nasty shock: my huge network of publishing professionals was no use to me at all when I spoke to business owners about publishing their book!), the idea of ever having to hang up the ‘No Vacancies’ sign seemed faintly ridiculous.
But today that’s exactly what I’ve done. After the proposal challenge the take-up of the online bootcamp (open only to graduates of the challenge) was so high that I’ve closed my doors to new coaching clients for the next 6 weeks so that I can focus on my existing clients and my bootcampers.
It feels very strange, but also rather wonderful.
