A lifetime ‘to-read’ list

I have a new project. (Because my life clearly isn’t busy enough…. Oh.)

As suggested by a fellow Fetchie – a member of my wonderful running site, FetchEveryone – I have taken up the challenge to read one book from every year of my life. I’m reading them in sequence, starting with Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five from 1969, they’re all books I’ve not read before, and where possible I’m trying to choose books that I feel I should have read but somehow missed out on.

It’s begun well: Slaughterhouse-Five was a revelation – darkly funny, spikily yet beautifully written. Now I’m onto John Gardner’s Grendel, which is just dark, so far, but it’s early days.

If you like the idea, you can see my list (not yet complete) here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/34626998-alison-jones?shelf=every-year-of-my-life. And if you fancy joining me, let me know and we can compare notes!

So many books, so little time. Hopefully this will help me catch up on a lifetime’s ‘to read’ list.
